Milan, surf and skate culture at Base and Rinascente

How to forget Jack Barlow, Matt Johnson and Leroy, the legendary protagonists of Big Wednesday and their deep passion for the sea, Californian beaches and big waves? A film that made the generations that chose surfing as a lifestyle dream. But also Paranoid Park, a portrait of Portland crazy and wild teenage skaters. Inspiring films and screenings will be presented at the third edition of the Milan Skate and Surf Film Festival, to be held at Base, the creative and cultural hub in the heart of the Navigli district, in via Bergognone, from the 9th to the 12th of May.

The surf and skate culture will come alive through art, exclusive events, competitions, music, exhibitions, workshops: films, documentaries and travel diaries will trigger the desire for waves and skate performances. An international showcase for surfing and skateboarding, featuring the most important and exclusive innovations in the sector. Moreover, the program will also include several skate contests (Best Trick) on a special ramp/sculpture specifically created for the event. Some of the greatest photographers and filmmakers in the industry will be expected in the city for the Skate and Surf Festival. The exhibition will be directed by Luca Merli and produced by Block10/Onde Nostre, a collective of surfers, skaters, filmmakers, photographers and cultural operators with the intention to preserve and communicate the spirit of surfing and skateboarding: the aim of the organisers is to exceed the 25,000 visitors that honoured the last edition of the event.
