Lacoste modern and timeless elegance celebrates its 85th anniversary: a long time has passed since the first polo shirt, L. 12.12. was created. To celebrate the anniversary event, until the 23rd of May, the new Lacoste Anniversary collection was available in the new pop-up store at the Rinascente department store in Rome, via del Tritone.
From the brand’s archives, 15 reinterpretations that draw inspiration from the cult-pieces of each decade, will be available revisited with contemporary colours and styles: eight unisex polo shirts, three dresses, a pair of shoes and three bags. A journey into the creativity and innovation of Lacoste.
To commemorate the 30s, there’s a fitted style inspired by the prototype of the iconic L. 12.12 polo, made of thick cotton, with chest pocket and slightly longer sleeves, in ecru, navy blue and red colour. To symbolize the 40s, an anthracite cotton jersey polo shirt, characterised by an important collar detail. And for the iconic 50s, a sportswear garment with a vintage charm: the polo meets the sweatshirt, with a green cotton crepe, ribbed collar, with double ribbed cuffs and waistband. The decade marking the 60s proposes a navy blue and white buttoned-up pique polo, a V neck and bare back tennis dress and the René canvas sneakers, still faithful to the original design. The colour blocking polo shirt (also available in children sizes) with large decorative bands and a white, navy and red, fine knit cotton polo shirt dress characterize the 70s proposals.
The 80s saw the mariniére T–shirt, which inspired the current cotton pique polo shirt with navy blue and white shoulder details. For women, the white petit piqué dress with bicolour profile collar and sleeves. The items linked to the 90s feature colour and an all-over print: the colour blocking design is proposed for accessories, a backpack, mariniére sac bag and fanny pack. In the 2000s, we see a return to basics, with a sporty polo shirt where minimalist zig zag graphics harmonize with the discrete geometry of a white check, piqué polo. And for 2018? Lacoste creates the polo shirt of the future, combining technology, comfort and elegance.
But that’s not all: Lacoste will also be the protagonist of the shop windows of the Roma Tritone store, which, for the occasion, will feature an exclusive exhibition dedicated to the brand.
