Do straw hats and bags remind you of other eras? Wrong. By taking a look at the Spring Summer 2018 fashion shows, in fact, one immediately realises that straw, wicker, raffia and rattan are back in the spotlight and in a whole new version.
In terms of hats, you will be spoilt for choice. From Emporio Armani pastel shades to the total black retro proposals by Saint Laurent, Gucci architectural shapes and Missoni oversized dimensions.
Dolce & Gabbana then explores the Sicilian tradition to completely overturn it, bringing to the catwalk large rainbow-coloured straw and raffia hats, fringed sunray-effect sunglasses and heart-shaped rattan shoulder bags.
Delpozo chooses the poetry of sculptural hair bands resembling straw bows, to be combined with vibrant hue dresses and mules decorated with tufts of raffia.
Bags also know how to get noticed. Set aside traditional basket or bucket styles, geometric shapes triumph, as for the 3.1 Phillip Lim shopper, or they are embellished with colorful embroidery and creative appliqués, such as Fendi original shoulder bag. They also decisively focus on unusual combinations played on colour contrasts and embossed textures, such as the romantic sac-à-main proposed by Miu Miu.
