Temperatures have dropped, and a nice warm coat is a much-needed piece right now. Since it will be a loyal companion for at least the next three or four months, it is advised to choose it carefully, aiming, as well as at quality, even at a classic but updated line, capable to be perfectly combined with most of your wardrobe’s garments, without running the risk of being boring.
Among timeless elegant pieces, are those proposed by three brands that purposely avoid black and focus instead on colours in line with seasonal trends. Acne Studios opts for a camel hue, to be liven up with a pastel sweater and a pair of sneakers. Moorer instead chooses navy blue; to complete the Corto Maltese look, just add a chunky turtle neck sweater. It’s definitely cement grey Eleventy colour of choice, to be worn in contrast with warm and intense hued jumpers and velvet trousers.
Faithful to the men’s wardrobe tradition is also Barena check print coat that can be played down if paired with an oversized scarf and casual-chic garments. A philosophy also embraced by Paul Smith who chooses, however, darker tones of green and blue to give life to his macro check print.
As enveloping and soft as a cocoon is then the teddy coat again proposed by Barena, also perfect if layered on more sporty clothes.
Parka or eskimo lovers, on the other hand, will be spoilt for choice with forest shades for their 2018-19 coat: moss green as seen at Polaire or tobacco brown like the jacket designed by Dries Van Noten.
Those who don’t want to give up the warm embrace of a down jacket, will have to add Aspesi puffer inspired, padded interior coat to their shopping list.
